Global Education Conference
About us
On December 8 & 9, 2020, The Washington Diplomat is hosting its 2020 Global Education Conference to convene embassy representatives, the private sector, universities, think tanks, U.S. government officials, international multilateral organizations and other educational institutions to discuss the latest developments in education and, specifically, the issues that are critical to foreign students coming to the United States, particularly in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Among the myriad topics we will examine are: future education trends, including distance learning, the skills needed to adapt to a 21st-century world and pertinent political developments affecting the field of international education. Discussions will be moderated in-studio with virtual participation to ensure a safe but dynamic and inclusive conference.
Topics will include:
- Expected new rules for international students under the new or current U.S. administration
- Transformative trends in education post-COVID19
- Visa and immigration issues for international students
- New fields of study and trends in higher education
- Strategies for communicating with embassies to attract international students to the U.S.
- How governments can attract major institutions to open schools in their countries
- Developments in STEM studies, including an emphasis on women and minorities
- Disruptive technologies
- The future of workforce re-skilling
- Continuing education
